At the center of Brussels lies the Grand Place (Grote Markt), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s most stunning squares. Surrounded by opulent 17th-century guildhalls, each adorned with intricate gold-leaf detailing and symbolic sculptures, the square is a masterpiece of Baroque and Gothic architecture. The Brussels City Hall, with its soaring 96-meter tower, dominates the space, while the King’s House (Maison du Roi) houses the Museum of the City of Brussels, showcasing the city’s rich history, including the original costumes of Manneken Pis.

Twice a year, the square transforms into a floral wonderland during the Flower Carpet Event, when a vibrant tapestry of begonias covers the cobblestones. By night, the illuminated facades create a breathtaking spectacle, casting golden reflections on the bustling terraces of chocolate shops and cafés.

A visit to the Grand Place is a journey through Brussels’ mercantile past, artistic heritage, and living traditions—where history, culture, and daily life converge in one unforgettable setting.
